Why is Hillary Clinton remarkable?

Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton was born on October 26, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to Hugh Rodham, a businessman and Dorothy Howell, a homemaker.

Hillary attended Maine East High School where she participated in the student council and the school newspaper. She was elected class vice president and voted “most likely to succeed” in her class journal.

She enrolled in Wellesley College and majored in political science. She entered Yale Law School in 1971 where she met Bill Clinton, a fellow law student. They were married on October 11, 1975. Bill Clinton was the Governor of Arkansas from 1979 to 1981. In January 1993, Bill Clinton took office as President of the United States and Hillary became the First Lady.

She was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2001 and became the first American First Lady to win a public office seat. In 2016, she became the first woman in U.S. history to become the presidential nominee of a major political party. Despite losing the electoral vote, Clinton won the popular vote by a margin of almost three million.

Hillary Clinton has written several books, of which ‘It Takes a Village: And Other Lessons Children Teach Us’, ‘Living History’ and ‘Hard Choices’ are a few.
