I’m a student of Std XI (Arts) in Meghalaya state board and I want to do an economics honours degree. What are the best career options related to economics?
Economics is the study of all aspects of the economy, from local consumer spending to global stock markets. It is a good basis for advanced professional degrees in areas such as management, finance, law and public affairs.
A bachelor’s degree with a specialization in economics is good preparation for many entry-level positions as a research assistant, administrative or management trainee, marketing interviewer or professional sales jobs. Financial institutions like the Reserve Bank of India offer openings to post-graduate degree holders in economics. The Indian Economic Service is open to post-graduates with economics. After clearing the examination one is entitled to Class I government service.
A Ph.D. is necessary in order to become an economist or to get a high-level marketing position in many organizations. Business firms, banks and other financial institutions employ economists to evaluate their market positions and many business managers believe that economic training is desirable for positions in sales or management.
