This is going to be a blood bank with a difference. It caters only to dogs. The veterinary group Medivet located in the UK plans to set up a national canine blood bank in the UK. In a blood transmission session for this bank, 20 retired greyhounds donated blood. Greyhounds are ideal donors because they have a blood type that can be matched to all breeds of dogs. Unlike other dog breeds, greyhounds do not have the risk of being infected with blood-transmitted diseases. This is yet another reason why they make great donors.
